PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Soccer Tots
(Ages 3 & 4).
The Soccer Tots program is for 3 and 4 year olds and is
an entry level program designed to introduce youngsters to the fun
of the sport of soccer. Each child receives a size three soccer ball
to keep, as well as a T-shirt and soccer socks. Parents will need to
supply shin guards and shorts, cleats are optional. The Soccer Tots
program will be conducted in an academy style so the group will meet
as a whole on Saturday mornings. The goal of the program is to
foster the basic learning of the sport while getting the maximum
number of touches on the ball in a non competitive environment
through the use of fun drills and exercises.

3v3/U6 Academy Program (Pre K 5 year olds and Kindgergarten 5 year
olds)
-
This program is for first time players who wish
to learn the sport of Soccer while having fun.
-
Practices are held in an Academy format on
Mondays at Oakdale Middle School.
-
The Academy is based on a week by week curriculum
provided by the UK Elite Soccer coaching organization. Basic
soccer skills with an emphasis on foot skills are taught in a
noncompetitive environment. The development of the player’s
physical coordination and simple ball movement skills are
emphasized.
-
3 player vs. 3 player games
are played on weekends that encourage players to have fun
without the pressure of competitive games. Scores are not kept
and Coaches teach on the fields during each game. The skills
learned in the Academy on Monday are reviewed and incorporated
during the games on Saturdays
-
All players are given equal
playing time.
The U8 Academy
-
This coed program is for the player who wants to
learn more about the sport of Soccer while continuing to have fun
-
Practices are typically held at a Deer Crossing
Elementary twice per week. One night will be academy style where all
the children learn the same skills. The other night is a team
practice. Soccer is a team sport and skills are learned at practice.
Therefore, players are expected to attend as many practices as
possible.
-
Soccer skills taught will build on the basics learned
in the 3v3 Program but no experience is required. Players are
introduced to positioning on the field and are taught the rules of
the game. Ball control and ball handling are emphasized.
-
U8 plays 5 player vs. 5 player games. 4 field players
+ a goalie.
-
Games are typically played at Deer Crossing
Elementary on weekends. The games encourage players to explore the
skills they learn during practice. Coaches will teach on the field
during the games and serve as referee to "loosely" enforce the rules
of the game. Scores are not kept.
-
All players will play every position.
Competitive Girls and Boys (Age U10 to under
age U16/ U19 see eligibility chart below)
-
This program is for the player
that has a basic knowledge of Soccer skills and the rules of the
game. The program allows the player to experience the excitement of
competition while having fun.
-
Practices are typically held at
a local school twice per week. Soccer is a team sport and players
are expected to attend and participate in each practice. This is
where the learning takes place. Games are for applying what they
have learned and for having fun.
-
Players will continue to build
and improve their soccer skills while enhancing their physical
fitness. Most players have previously played in the instructional
program but first time soccer players are welcome.
-
All players purchase a LUYAA
competitive uniform (Shirt with number, shorts and socks). A uniform
is expected to last the player several seasons.
-
7 player vs. 7 player for U10, 8
player vs. 8 player for U12. or 11 player vs. 11 player for (U14 and above) games are
played through the Frederick County Youth Soccer League (FCYSL) in
accordance with their rules and regulations.
-
Games are scheduled throughout
Frederick County and are officiated by licensed referees.
-
The teams taking part in FCYSL
(a recreational soccer league) and subsequently, LUYAA, are grouped
in two year age brackets. Within the age brackets there are
typically 4 divisions, with D-1 being the most competitive and
physically demanding.
-
All normally scheduled games are
played on Saturdays, as well as Sunday afternoons.
-
In some instances, LUYAA Soccer
may hold tryouts for the most competitive players at the Division
One and higher levels. Players within the LUYAA Soccer organization
will have the chance to evaluated and or tryout for one of these
teams. In the past, LUYAA Soccer has fielded teams in the Classic
Divisions of leagues outside of the Frederick County Youth Soccer
League. These teams usually demand a one year commitment from
players and traveling outside of Frederick County for games is the
norm. In most cases, these teams will incur higher registration
costs for families. Tryout and evaluation notices for these teams
will be sent out in a mass email to all age appropriate registered
players within the LUYAA Soccer program.
-
The league is divided into Girls
teams and Boys/Coed teams (typically boys, except some groups within the
Frederick County Youth Soccer League do not have enough players to
have separate teams).
-
Coaches and assistants stay on
the sidelines with their team during games. Parents sit on the
opposite sidelines and are encouraged to be positive influences
during games.
