Thank you for expressing interest in joining the LOUYAA Predator Wrestling family.  Prior to signing on the dotted line, we would like to inform you of what you are committing your child and yourself to.

We are a small organization with a approximately 100 wrestlers, therefore, everyone must contribute to ensure a successful and fun filled season for our children. There will be a volunteer/singlet deposit in the form of a $75 undated check to be returned if the family volunteers for the minimum amount of time required per family and the singlet is returned at the end of the season intact.  Volunteer time may include moving and setting up mats, concession help, table help at home matches and there are various other activities requiring volunteers.  All families will be required to participate in the volunteer program.  The parents have always done a GREAT job in the past and I expect no less this year.  There will be a volunteer schedule made out prior to our first HOME meet.

In addition to the normal registration fee you will be required to purchase wrestling shoes ($30+) and headgear ($20+) from a sporting goods store of your choice.  Some wrestling shoes are available from our shoe bank.   We will provide a wrestling singlet as stated above for use in our matches, and a Predator T-shirt that the wrestler can keep.

We will be holding a parents only meeting in early November (tentative date is Monday, November 7th at Urbana High School cafeteria from 7-8 pm) to welcome you, introduce you to the coaching staff, explain the volunteer program, share our wrestling philosophy and provide any other information that you may require.

Our first meet will be the weekend of January 7, 2012.  All meets are held on Sundays and last between 4-6 hours.  Home matches require setting up and taking down of mats and equipment, table help, concession help, and clean up, and away matches require travel time (up to an hour each way) plus the 3 to 4 hours of wrestling time.  All wrestlers will wrestle a minimum of 2 matches and as many as 4-5 matches.  The season concludes in early March with a league championship tournament.

Your wrestling fee also includes all tournament entry fees that we enter as a team.  Most tournaments are held in the month of December in preparation of the regular season start in early January.  There will be tournaments for all including beginner and experienced.  I will provide a full list of tournaments we will be participating in at the parent meeting.  Participation in pre-season tournaments is not required, but highly recommended to get the kids accustomed to wrestling a match or to just “knock the rust off”.

Our wrestling practices will start the week of November 14th.  The kids are typically broken into 4 squads based on level of experience, weight, and age.  Squads practice twice a week Monday thru Friday in the evenings from 6-8 pm.  Our practices are held in 3 locations: Oakdale High School Wrestling room, Urbana High School Wrestling room, and our private facility located in Ijamsville off of Prices Distilliary Road.  I will hand out a practice schedule at the parent meeting and each wrestler will be assigned a squad.

Please do not hesitate to call me if you have any questions (Cell: 703-898-2346) or feel free to email me at dmakosy@southlandind.com

Thank You,
Doug Makosy
Wrestling Commissioner
